It is horrifying to discover that Trinity College Dublin, hailed as one of the worlds great seats of learning, engages in such hideous cruelty . Every year hundreds of helpless animals are tortured to death behind the walls of its science laboratories . Many of them are specially bred for this purpose, doomed from birth to a short, miserable life of pain , loneliness and fear .

    This is not only barbaric, it is completely unnesessary ! We now have a whole range of cruelty free testing methods avalable to us, such as computer modelling and human tissue reproduction . Vivisection is unreliable because each species reacts in a unique way to drugs and medication .If we relied on animal reactions before we used any products, lemon juice would be thought of as poisonous because it is dangerous to cats, where as opium would be regarded as harmless because dogs can tolerate much larger doses than humans . Testing on animals is therefore misleading and dangerous to humans as well as to the victims of these ghastly experiments ( who are later disposed of even if they do not die of their injuries, since they are no use for futher tests ) .

   Even if medical advancements could be made by these means, that would not make vivisection right .  Causing pain and taking the lives of other living creatures is simply wrong .  No amount of lies, distortions and excuses can change that . Animals are sentient beings who experiense all the emotions and feelings we do . We cannot even begin to imagine what they suffer at the hands of the supposedly civilised people who subject them to such horific ordeals .

   But we can do something about it ! Trinity cant hide the truth forever , and truth is our weapon ! The secrecy with wich these operations are conducted betrays the colleges fear of exposure - and they will be exposed ! We can eradicate this loathsome practise, liberate the innocent victims of science, and abolish the legal right to torture creatures whose dignity and entitlement to freedom is equal to our own . Animals have no voice in this world where money and 'progress' are everything - they need us to speak for them . We hold their future in our hands and we wont let them down !!!
